Homewood Suites by Hilton Conroe Lighting Upgrade: Safer, Cleaner, and More Efficient Exterior Illumination

A Commercial Lighting Upgrade Built Around Safety, Efficiency, and Appearance

Commercial lighting does more than help people see at night. For a hotel, exterior lighting plays a major role in safety, curb appeal, guest comfort, and the overall first impression of the property.

At Homewood Suites by Hilton Conroe, ACS Electric & Generators completed a full exterior lighting upgrade designed to replace outdated LED fixtures, improve energy efficiency, restore consistent illumination, and maintain the warm, welcoming appearance guests expect when arriving after dark.

The project included replacing older wall-mounted LED fixtures around the hotel exterior and upgrading the lighting inside the hotel’s pillar signs. The goal was simple, improve performance without disturbing the property’s visual identity.

Replacing Outdated Exterior LED Fixtures Around the Hotel

The building had older LED fixtures installed around the exterior walls of the hotel.

These lights were mounted roughly twelve feet high and wrapped around large sections of the property. Over time, the older fixtures had become less efficient and were using more energy than newer LED technology now requires.

For a hotel, this matters. Exterior lighting is not optional. It helps guests walk safely from vehicles to entrances, improves visibility around the building, supports security, and helps the property look cared for at night.

The challenge was access.

Many of the lights were positioned near bushes, landscaping, walkways, and other obstacles that made standard ladder placement difficult. In some commercial projects, that kind of access issue can require a bucket truck or lift. On this property, however, a bucket crane would not have been able to reach every location effectively because of the layout of the building and surrounding obstacles.

Instead, the ACS Electric & Generators team used longer ladders in a controlled and safety-conscious manner. This allowed the crew to reach the fixtures properly while still maintaining safe working conditions. That approach also helped avoid the extra cost, time, and limitations of using larger lift equipment that would not have solved every access point anyway.

By planning the work carefully, the team was able to complete the exterior wall lighting replacement around the entire building in one full workday.

Why the Exterior Lighting Upgrade Was Needed

Older LED fixtures can still work, but that does not always mean they are performing well. As lighting technology improves, newer LED systems can often provide better illumination with lower energy use, cleaner light distribution, and improved reliability.

For a hotel property, aging lighting can create several problems. The building may appear dimmer than it should. Certain walkways or exterior areas may feel less inviting. Guests may notice uneven lighting around the property. Maintenance costs can also increase when older fixtures begin failing at different times.

This upgrade helped solve those issues by replacing outdated lighting with a more efficient and dependable setup.

The result was a cleaner exterior appearance, better visibility around the hotel, and a lighting system better suited for long-term commercial use.

Upgrading the Hotel Pillar Sign Lighting

In addition to the wall-mounted exterior lighting, ACS Electric & Generators also upgraded the lighting inside the hotel’s pillar signs.

These signs helped identify different areas of the property, including entrance points, drive-up areas, pool areas, and other guest-facing sections of the hotel. They were not just functional signs. They were part of the hotel’s nighttime atmosphere.

The original sign lighting used older LED technology with a few individual light points inside the sign structure. That created a spotty appearance because the light did not fill the entire sign evenly. Some areas looked brighter, while other areas had visible gaps or dark sections.

The updated system replaced that older approach with modern LED strip lighting. This allowed the signs to keep the same soft, comforting presence while filling in the gaps with smoother and more consistent illumination.

The improvement was noticeable. Instead of uneven patches of light, the signs had a cleaner glow that looked more complete and professional.

Keeping the Same Ambiance While Improving the System

One of the most important parts of this project was preserving the hotel’s existing feel.

The goal was not to make the signs harsh, overly bright, or visually distracting. The property already had a comfortable lighting style, and the upgraded sign lighting needed to respect that.

By using LED strip lighting with adjustable brightness, the team was able to improve the quality of the illumination while keeping the same general ambiance. The signs remained soft and welcoming, but now looked fuller, cleaner, and more consistent.

That balance matters in hospitality lighting. A hotel should feel safe and visible without feeling cold or industrial. The right lighting should guide guests naturally, support the property’s branding, and create a sense of comfort when people arrive.

Power Management and LED Driver Replacement

The sign lighting upgrade also required replacing the internal power management

components that supported the LED system. These components, often referred to as LED drivers or power supplies, help regulate the power going to the lights so the system operates correctly and consistently.

Each pillar sign required its own properly matched power unit based on the lighting demand of that location.

For the signs near the pool and tennis court areas, a lower-power setup was appropriate because the surrounding environment did not require as much brightness. Those signs used a 12-watt configuration.

For the signs near the main entrance and drive-up drop-off area, a brighter setup was needed. These areas already had more surrounding light, so the sign lighting had to stand out clearly without becoming overpowering. Those signs used a 24-watt configuration.

The LED strip lighting itself remained consistent across the signs. The difference came from the power configuration needed for each location. This allowed the hotel to keep a unified visual style while adjusting brightness where it mattered most.

A Full-Day Commercial Lighting Project With Strong Results

This project was completed in one full day and covered the entire exterior building lighting system along with the hotel pillar sign lighting.

The work required planning, safe access, proper equipment, and attention to detail. From reaching wall fixtures around landscaping to replacing internal sign lighting components, ACS Electric & Generators completed the upgrade with a practical approach that saved the property from unnecessary lift equipment while still meeting the demands of the job.

The final result gave Homewood Suites by Hilton Conroe a cleaner, more efficient, and more consistent exterior lighting system.

The building received upgraded wall lighting for safety and visibility. The pillar signs received smoother, more complete illumination. The hotel maintained its warm nighttime presence while benefiting from newer LED technology and better power management.

Why Commercial Lighting Upgrades Matter

For hotels, apartment communities, retail centers, offices, and other commercial properties, lighting is part of the guest and customer experience. It affects how safe the property feels, how professional the building looks, and how easily people can navigate the space after dark.

Outdated lighting can quietly work against a property. It can create uneven visibility, higher energy usage, more maintenance concerns, and a tired appearance.

A well-planned lighting upgrade does the opposite. It improves safety, supports curb appeal, reduces inefficient power use, and gives the property a more polished look.

At Homewood Suites by Hilton Conroe, the lighting upgrade helped restore that clean, dependable presence guests should see the moment they arrive.
